Today marks the birthday of one of the most influential writers in history. Jane Austen transformed literature during a period when women were largely excluded from writing and voting. At Les Epicuriens, we are celebrating her remarkable legacy. Austen’s innovative perspective and literary genius continue to resonate today. She stands alongside the Bronte Sister and Virginia Woolf as one of the most distinguished and beloved English authors. Her works have inspired contemporary adaptations, such as the television series Bridgerton on Netflix. We recommend exploring her novels, including Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma and many more. For devoted fans, the Jane Austen Centre in Bath offers a unique opportunity to engage with her legacy. Personally, I have visited the Centre in Bath and deeply appreciate her contributions to literature.

In conjunction with this celebration and as part of the Christmas Tuesday week keynote reveal, I would like to share some words as a preview of our upcoming book club. While I will not disclose all the details and innovations planned for next year, I can confirm that the book club draws inspiration from the BBC program Between the Covers. The primary objective of this initiative is to promote literature and its authors. We are actively working to introduce a dedicated feminist space, among other new features. Our team is finalizing a lineup of surprises that will launch alongside Les Epicuriens. Please note that the book club’s name may change, as Les Epicuriens remains a work in progress. I look forward to sharing more information when the time is right in 2026.
