Good Fortune stars Keanu Reeves as Gabriel, an angel; Seth Rogen as Jeff, a wealthy tech entrepreneur; Aziz Ansari as Arj, an unlucky man juggling multiple jobs; Keke Palmer as Arj’s girlfriend, Elena; and Sandra Oh as Chief Angel Marta. Aziz Ansari also directs the film.

The story centers on Gabriel, an angel assigned to prevent car accidents caused by texting and driving. Concerned that Arj, an overworked and unlucky man, is headed for disaster, Gabriel bends the rules to offer him a chance at a better life. Arj temporarily experiences Jeff’s privileged lifestyle, while Gabriel risks his angelic status under Chief Angel Marta’s supervision, until Arj must decide whether to return to his former life.

Good Fortune was a pleasant surprise. At Basket, we thoroughly enjoyed it. The film is a light comedy with a meaningful message about the challenges many workers face today. Characters like Arj and Elena reflect the reality of juggling multiple jobs, struggling with high living costs, and coping with stress and uncertainty. The movie is heartfelt, genuinely funny, and realistic. If you are looking for something thoughtful beyond typical blockbusters, we highly recommend spending 1 hour and 39 minutes with this film, whether in theaters or at home.
